14 days experiment

Introduction: Insomnia
          In fact I will not use something too dangerous to conduct experiments. For example, I will experiment to drink a cup of coffee, tea, cola and other drinks containing nerve stimulation at bedtime, I will conduct a series of vigorous exercise at bedtime and see a terrorist movie at bedtime, etc1. In the fourteen days, I will try to find some scientific basis and clinical experiments certification of the information. I will try to find out some of the reasons that we get insomnia. As well as I will do the personally test to prove the basis of my proposed. At first, I will test my time of fall asleep and the quality of sleeping to be my reference data. I will invite a friend to inspectors the time I need to fall asleep. Calculate and record the time. And then I would like to use thirteen days to examine the reasons of my proposed. I will test different reasons of investigate the origins of insomnia in every single day.

Day 1: March 1st 
          I do the test of my normal sleep time what I ask my friend to help me to count how long do I need to fall asleep. My result is: I need10 minutes to fall asleep. It sounds wonderful. And then I tried to find out how long do the common people need to fall asleep. Unfortunately, I can not find out any result from the internet. So, I ask 10 of my friends who are living around me. I count of their fall asleep time. The average is almost 10 minutes. That means I am a normal people to fall asleep.



Day 2: March 2nd
          I test the impact of a cup of coffee on human sleep. Today, I am going to buy a cup of coffee in coffee shop. There are too many kind of coffee for me to choose. I have no idea at at that time. So I just choose one from the menu unceremoniously. It is a Latte with ice. I will drink it before I go to bed. Almost twelve o'clock. And then I set up my alarm will ring after ten minutes. Because 10 minutes is the time how long I need to fall asleep. Unfortunately, I still awake after ten minutes. Also I do not have any sleepiness at that moment. This time I should have been asleep, but I was very spiritual. Time is passing. One hour later, I start to feel sleepy. I am fall asleep very soon. The result is: Coffee can easily to affect my sleep time. Coffee contains caffeine. While caffeine affect human central nervous system. Caffeine is a central nervous stimulant that can temporarily drive away the sleepiness and restoring energy.


Day 3: March 3rd
          I test the impact of a cup of tea on human sleep. I am going to a Chinese supermaket where is in Cupertino. I choose to buy a packet of tea from Taiwan. Tea is collected from "High Mountain". So the name of the tea called " High Mountain Tea". It's very famous tea in Taiwan. Method of drinking is very easy. First, you need to boiling water. And then using the hot water to steep with the tea. I drink the tea before I go to sleep just like yesterday.Also I count with the time how long I need to fall asleep. I set up my alarm will ring after ten minutes as well. I was not surprised that the result. Because tea and coffee have had one of the same element. It's "caffeine". Caffeine can easily to affect our human spirit. So I still awake after ten minutes. I am very spiritual, and no sleepiness.Almost half hour later, I started to feel sleepy.






Day 4: March 4th
          I test the impact of coke on human sleep today. I do not need to go out to buy coke. Because my home have already had dozen of coke. Coke is one of my favorite beverage. I do not know how to say. Do you have the feeling why you always want to drink coke? If you have had drunk cola. You must have that kink of feeling. Because in fact, coke contains cocaine, people will be addicted after drinking, whatever people want to drink. Also coke contains caffeine. That means coke have affect our human spirit. I drink a can of coke before my sleep. And also set up my alarm to ring after ten minutes. If you have read my day two and day three experiment, you must know caffeine affect our human spirit. Enable us to drive away sleepiness and restore a temporary energy. So I still awake after ten minutes. I need almost twenty minutes to start to feel sleepiness. I think that's not too long for me to fall asleep. Maybe I always drink coke in my daily day. Maybe my body have accepted the impact on Coke. The result is: Coke also affect our human sleep. Same as tea and coffee. They are have the same element - Caffeine. 


Day 5: March 5th
          I conduct a series of vigorous exercises before I go to sleep. In day two, day three and day four, I test three kind of drink contains caffeine whether affect human sleep or not. The result is yes. However, I do that three tests on my weekday. I do not feel any discomfort. Actually, all of my classes are begining at 4 p.m. That's why I have the idea to examining insomnia. I conduct a series of vigorous exercises before I go to sleep. Including push up, is a common strength training exercise performed in a prone position. Sit up, is a exercise abdominal muscles. I did that two exercise for fifteen minutes. After that, I set up my alarm will ring ten minutes later. After a series of vigorous exercises, my heart beat very fast. So I still awake and did not have any sleepiness. Almost I need one hour to fall asleep. This shows that strenuous exercises can affect sleep. 





Day 6: March 6th
          I test the impact of over drink water before I go to sleep. Everybody must know we need to drink water. For normal functioning of various organs in vivo, per person per day to drink enough water. Just like to be driven on a car, the most basic need to add enough fuel. But, do you guys think about over drink water before your bed-time? I think majority do not do that. So just let me do this test. I buy a box of water from Safeway. Including thirty-five bottles of water. Of couse I can not drink that all in one day. I think three bottles is my limit for a day. As usual, I do this test before my sleep time at twelve o'clock. For a normal person to drink three bottles of water is impossible.But I think is okay for me. I don't know because I never tried it. So, I plan to use half hour to finish this test. Half hour later, I am done. Also I felt my stomach is filled at that time. And then I try to sleep and set up my alarm as well. In my mind, I think water do not have any element to affect human spirit. I guess I can easy to fall asleep. Unfortunately, not as I hope. I still awake and felt spirit. This test prove over drink water will affect our human to fall asleep. I don't know how much water can affect human before sleep. It depends on each person constitution.


Day 7: March 7th
          I test whether over food eaten can affect sleep. This is the day seven experiment. I pormised I still health and feeling good until now. Starchy foods are easy to make people feel a sense of satiety.So that I go to buy 2 packet of spaghetti in Safeway. Spaghetti is my experiment whether over food easten can affect sleep. Also spaghetti is one of my favorite food. I love to use tomato sauce to braise spaghetti. Spaghetti and tomato sauce are a good match. I choose to eat spaghetti for my dinner before I go to sleep. I start at twelve o'clock. You must focus on the time, right? That's too late for dinner. But if I do this experiment too early, just like start at eight o'clock. Everyone must know that's too early for me to fall asleep. My normal sleeping time is twelve o'clock. I have not other choice. So, I eat some foods at six o'clock. Don't let my stomach feel discomfort. After I cook the spaghetti, I am eating it all. Even thought the taste fantastic, my stomach is over fulled. As long as over eating foods, they're just become not tasty. The result is over eaten foods can affect human sleep. I am not sure whether over eaten affect human sleep. Some people over eaten may not affect sleep. I recomend people should not over eaten food before they go to bed. It may affect your sleep and your body as well.








Day 8: March 8th
          I test the impact of seeing a terrorist film before I go to sleep. I choose one of the famous terrorist film from 2008. The film's name call "The eye". The film is about the musician violin since childhood, Miss Wales, Sydney ‧ blind eyes can see the world is the greatest wish of her life. "The eye" is really horrible film. Even though the film was ending, my brain still constantly running through those horrifying pictures. Even if I do not set up my alarm, I am surely I could not fall asleep after I went to bed in ten minutes. The result just like what I thought. So, horrible film can affect our human brain to think about those horrifying pictures. I almost spend one hour to let my feelings calm down and feeling sleepiness.


Day 9: March 9th
          Match 9th, I test the impact of seeing a funny movie on human sleep. According to medical statistics indicate that funny movie affect our human's emotional ups and downs.No doubt. When we are seeing funny movie, we will smiling, also laughing. So, I try to see funny movie before my bed time tonight. As I think about what kind of funny movie can make me laughing, I only remembered "Funny movie". It's a TV show which is collect all of funny videos to post it on TV. I think many people have had seen this TV show. It's pretty funny. I watch it on youtube is about cat did some of funny things. I watch it before my bed time at twelve o'clock. That's really funny and I was laughing non-stop. Even though this video only two more minutes, I am already feeling spirit. The result is the same like these days experiment. I do not feel any sleepiness. I also need twenty minutes to clam down.

Day 10: March 10th
          I believe that the formation of a short few days I have had insomnia. Since some of the reasons for insomnia will overly affect the body. I will not do any dangerous experiment. such as drug, drunk, etc. So that I will test something help to improve insomnia. Such as milk, tuna fish, beans, turkey, egges. To record my sleep time I need. And I will test something can help us to fall asleep and avoid insomnia.  But before I start, I need to record my sleep time now. Because I don't know whether I got insomnia or not. Before I start this 14 days experiment, I only need ten minutes to fall asleep. Today, I record the time how long I need to fall asleep. So, I ask my roomate to help me do that. I think I am still okay, I do not feel sick and uncomfortable. Be sure it will accurate. Just like before I go to bed at twelve o'clock. Maybe coffee, cola, tea, etc will affect our sleep or need more time to fall asleep. 
My roomate said I need almost twenty minutes to fall asleep. I was in no effect on the environment to sleep. Even though cola, coffee, tea, there are not like drug, there still have a little bit affect our sleep. I would not say that affect everyone. Because every single person has different constitution. So to be affected are relatively different. It just my personal case.


Day 11: March 11th 
          In these days, I will eat some food before bed, such as milk, tuna fish, beans,  eggs. Today, I test about drinking milk before I go to sleep. I bought a box of milk from Safeway. I heard someone say drinking milk is very useful before we go to sleep, especially hot milk. Even though I think I am still okay and do not feel uncomfortable, the time is the best proof, I need a double time to fall asleep. So that I put a cup of milk into microwave to heat it for one minutes and fifteen seconds. Unexpectedly, I feel very secure. I am starting to feel sleepy. So I use my cell phone to set up my alarm with faint thrill after ten minutes. Because of If I were already fall asleep, that thrill will not affect me. If I still awake, I can feel my phone faint thrill.
What a nice sleep. Milk can help me easy to fall asleep. Also it was not drug. It's health and good for our body. I search that why milk can help us to fall asleep easily. Because milk are rich in natural L tryptophan, this amino acid in the brain play the role of hypnosis. Also tuna fish, beans,  eggs are rich in natural L tryptophan. 




Day 12: March 12th
          Today, I am going to buy tuna fish from supermaket. I test about the tuna fish will easily to let us fall asleep or not.I choose to buy fresh tuna fish in seafood section. I use six dollar to get one. And then cook it by myself. Even though I have not had cooked tuna fish by myself, I am good at cooking. I cook dinner everyday by myself. So I have enough confidence to cook it well. I just cook a little bit for mine before my bed time. I only use olive oil, salt, black pepper to cook with tuna fish. The smell is fatastic. It taste good as well. But I do not feel any sleepy. I do not know whether it is work or not. I use my cell phone and set up my alarm with faint thrill after ten minutes. The reason is if I were already fall asleep, that thrill will not affect me. If I still awake, I can feel my phone faint thrill.
Even though eating fish before I go to bed looks like nothing special, but it is really good for our body. they are rich in natural L tryptophan, this amino acid in the brain play the role of hypnosis. I do not know the time I need to fall asleep. I just know I do not feel my alarm vibrate. That means it is work. Fish are good for us to fall asleep.



Day 13: March 13th
          Day 11 and day 12, I tried to drinking milk and eating tuna fish before I go to bed. It really good for me to sleep. I felt very comfortable. they are not just help me to easily fall asleep, also they are health for my body. Today, I am going to buy some beans. I am confused, I sure choose a can of beans or just buy the fresh beans and cook by myself. Struggles of my heart for a long time. Even though I do not know what's different between them. I consider fresh beans is better. No more preservative. Beans ingredients, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, lecithin, vitamins and minerals, fiber and some functions such as the role of trace substances. Also beans are rich in natural L tryptophan. Before I go to bed, I cook beans with salt and olive. Basically, I just make sure it taste good and health. That's all. Now, the time is half past eleven. I prepare beans to cook with. I eat it all and then go to sleep. Setting up my alarm with faint thrill will vibrate ather ten minutes. When I almost fall asleep, my alarm suddenly vibrate. Even though I am not fall asleep, I feel sleepy. Beans are not that much to help me on my sleep. But I think beans can help our sleeping, but except me.




Day 14: March 14th
          This is the last day of my experiment. Today, I do the last one experiment about eggs. Everyone know eggs is good for our body. Egg Nutritional: protein, fat, amino acids, tryptophan. According to the source(3). Tryptophan is a precursor of the sleep-inducing substances serotonin and melatonin. This means tryptophan is the raw material that the brain uses to build these relaxing neurotransmitters. Making more tryptophan available, either by eating foods that contain this substance or by seeing to it that more tryptophan gets to the brain, will help to make you sleepy. On the other hand, nutrients that make tryptophan less available can disturb sleep.
I eat one egg before I go to bed. Setting up my alarm with faint thrill will vibrate after ten minutes. The result is same like yesterday. I almost fall asleep, But my alarm vibrate. Eggs and beans are rich in tryptophan. Maybe I need more.

Conclusion of My 14 days exeriment

Caffeine is the world's most commonly abused drugs, coffee, tea, chocolate, many soft drinks, energy drinks contain caffeine. Although caffeine is highly addictive, the caffeine is completely unregulated. Caffeine overdose would be harmful. We should try to avoid eating foods containing caffeine before bedtime. by my experiments that a few days. prove that food containing caffeine can affect human sleep.
