In other peoples eyes, I must not an obese and fat boy as well. I have 5 feet 11 inches tall. So the proportion of my body looks very good. It is boy standard body proportion. If this standard of body proportion in America, American must think too slim for a boy. You can easily to meet someone over weight in America when you are in the street.

To say honestly, I am not a really slim boy. But you must ask why me look very slim and do not have any fat in my body. Very simple. It is very simple to cover my fat because I like to wear black tee-shirt and straight jeans. In fashion world, black can make people looks slimmer than wear others color. In my life when I lived in Macau for nineteen years, I attached importance and carefully to choose my clothing such as tee-shirt and jeans. But in America, no one care what you wear. Even if you dress with the problem or your clothing exposed the shortcomings of your own. there do not have people use discrimination perspective with your clothing.  

In my hometown Macau, obesity is not a crime, but a fat person does not obey that rules and exposed the shortcomings of his/her own, he/she would commit the “crime” against fashion. People very value the clothing problems in Asian. they consider people should wear their right clothing. Such as fat people should be wear their clothing on the black color. If you wear leggings with big hips, I am surely people will stare you with laughing or discrimination perspective with your clothing. It's very normal in my hometown Macau. People do not let their commit the “crime” against fashion. That's why I love to stay in America. There are not people care about what you wear and fit on your body or not. I think America do not have commit the “crime” against fashion issues. Because no one care what you put on your body. How come commit the “crime” against fashion?

Different countries have different culture. I think no one disagree what i am say. Culture is the main point of commit the “crime” against fashion. If your are in America, who care you wear wrong clothing. But in my hometown Macau, you need to value to choose your clothing. For example: obese people should wear black color and do not dress slim jeans. slim people should not wear outfit tee-shirt and jeans. That is the norms of people who live in Macau.

Basically, People are living under the eyes of other people will feel that they commit the “crime” against fashion. In my opinion, people are just choosing their favorite clothing and feel convenient. In Europe, people wear alternative clothing on the street. Like a man wear skirt with leggings. In Asian people's eyes, he must commit the "crime" against fashion. But in Europe, not really. They think it is a kind of fashion style. their a part of culture as like american like to wear casual clothing.

What is normal in fashion? It all depends on the local culture. As long as the culture of compliance, it would not commit the "crime" against fashion.

Angry Asian Man

When I first saw "Angry Asian Man"  from the title, it has attracted my attention. The only reason is I'm an Asian. It awakened my interest. I am very curious, because I want to know what would make Asians angry, including me. I was considering the author just told us his feeling or not. Why Asian get angry?

 

 I click to the "Angry Asian Man" from Create Minds. I know I'm totally wrong. The author was not superficial to express his anger. He used some of trivial things to let people know why Asian get anger in life. I very appreciate this blog. The author was using some of the pictures and videos to more specific express why Asian get angry? If you look closely at each title, you will find and understand Asians are supposed to be angry.

After I read some of my interesting posts, I slightly understand the feelings of the author. He want to express the racism issue in America and Asian's treatment in America. 

 

One of his post "the green horney starring jay chou…or, uh, john cho?". The Green Horney is Hollywood movie which was number one at the box office weekend, taking in $34,000,000 in domestic ticket sales. The Internet Movie Database's entry for The Green Hornet was incorrectly listing John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar) in the role of Kato. It is not respectful to Jay Chou, he is very popular and famous star in Taiwan and China as well. Why don't The Internet Movie Database seriously and handled carefully? 

 

Another post "Chinese immigrant homework" . According to the picture on the top. this is a homework for Chinese immigrant to describing life experiences in U.S. A Chinese immigrant in 1870 probably isn't writing home in English. Definitely, almost all of Chinese immigrant was not good at speaking and learning English in 1870. How did a Chinese immigrant can be survive in U.S.? Did the community has the opportunity to them to have work? Did they have opportunity to learn English? There are so many questions should the community to face the issue of Chinese immigrant. Of course nowadays have not had that issue in U.S.

Basically, The author did not significantly to write American discrimination against Asians. He cleverly used to express some of the trivial things. If we remembered the last assignment, we have had already seen a statistics of San Jose population. It indicated Chinese is a big group who live in San Jose. However, the fact is racism issue is there. Somehow, Asians are treated unfairly. Asian is work hard and achievements will never be lower than Americans. Easy to adapt to any environment, even thought they could not speak very well in English. In addition to Asians, other race should have the same treatment in U.S.

Informal Writing #3

     I believe many people in class has been Valley Fair Mall before. The reason is very simple and clear. Because Valley Fair Mall is one of bigger mall in San Jose. If you've been here before, you know that was hard to find parking space in here, especially in the holidays. There are many categories of products. Great products such as furniture and small accessories are also available in here. If you have a map, you find that the valley fair mall is located in the center of South Bay. Even though it is not holiday, there are still lively and crowded. For me, Vally Fair Mall is very big and I always get lost in here. 
     According to the statistics on the fast sheet, San Jose’s per capita income is $33,849 per year. For the professional/technical, their annual income is around $120,000 while there are 35% of residents are employed in this area (17% for industry of durable goods such as computers and 18% for professional and business service). These statistics indicated that in general people are high-income consumers. They occupy 35% of San Jose's residents. This explains their ability to spend huge money on luxury retailers like Louis Vuitton and Swarovski, etc. Apart from a luxury store, there are many shops are affordable like Levi's jeans and Vans store, etc. Overall Valley Fair suit from teens to adults. Suit from low-income consumers to high-income consumers.
     In my observation in Valley Fair Mall. People are very happy and enjoy to shopping in here. Their face have full of smiles. Valley fair's design is very good and at the end of the East and the South is the Macy's chain stores. Even if you're hungry, you can also go to the center of 2nd floor area to find food court. There have very clearly direction boards around the Mall. You can find your destination clearly. I do not have too much for the comments of mall. I am most concerned about the problem is a holiday parking space. I was trying to go shopping in thanksgiving. Unimaginable, I found a parking space close to a half-hour. Very few parking spaces in mobile. I saw a lot of people who can not find parking spaces chose to leave. My advice is part of parking spaces to be used to limit the flow of parking spaces. 
     I am enjoy going to have many kinds of product's shopping mall. I can buy whatever I want in here. So, that's the reason why I love to go to shopping in Valley Fair Mall. It is a good place for holiday and buy gifts in here.

Informal writing #2

     "The Matrix" was a very popular and famous science fiction movie from 1999. I have seen "The Matrix" berfore when i was a child who was studying at elementary school. On my fuzzy memories, I was not fully understand about the movie. I just remembered someone can jump very high and very quick reaction. If someone ask me about "The Matrix", I will tell him/her i only focused on the action of the plot like kung fu. I do not know what is the movie's plot in detail. I only knew about some of protagonists have had super powers.
     But last Thursday in HUMI class. I had a chance to watch "The Matrix" again. It was refreshing my memories of the movie. I was concentrated to watch it by detail. The protagonist who's name call Neo was a computer hacker has been living in a normal life, until he touched with mysterious person Morpheus.  Morpheus took him to the "real world": AD 2199, advanced artificial intelligence from the whole world ruled by machines. Machine to create a simulated environment - The Matrix (the mother) used to control human beings, and humans absorb energy from. Morpheus with his life time to find the "savior"(The One) to destroy the Matrix and lead humanity to overthrow the rule of the machine and rebuild the Earth. He believes that Neo is the savior.
      How could Neo go to the "real World"? Morpheus gave him two pills, one is blue, other one is red. And Mprpheus told Neo " You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."
    I stop and think about that a while. I think I would choose to take the red pill. Because of I knew that was not a "real world" I have been living. It was not because of my curiosity. Even thought I can have my normal life and still study in college in "fake world", I do not want to manipulation by others. Living in an imaginary world is totally meaningless. I am living because i have had the feeling of presence. Even 2199 is an unknown to me, even terror and unimaginable. We must face to it. In my position, mainly because I did not want to live in the fictional world. However, the "fake world" is very beautiful place and graceful environment to living it. If you know you are living in a "fake world". Would you still choose to live in there? Human life is very short, if you are lucky, maybe able to survive for several decades. If 10, 20, 30 years later, the "fake world" disillusioned. Will you regret you did not choose to enter the "real world"?
    I don't know is that a right choice to take a red pill. I don't know whether it is difficult to imagine the "real world". But I am sure I will not regret my choice. I would like to true to feel my exist, even if only a day.

The IAT

     Implicit Association Test proposed some of the questions and exercises for us insight into their own. I have done two of IAT which is Age test and Weight test.
I have completed the Young - Old IAT at first. My result is:  
     "Your data suggest a strong automatic preference for Young compared to Old."
     First it starts with pressing “e” for young people and good words; “i” for old people and bad words. Test consists of several conducted. In the first of the part, pressing "e" for young people; pressing "i" for old people. It was easy job, right? Second, pressing "e" for good words; pressing "i" for bad words. It still an easy one. And then, the third part was switching "e" for old people; "i" for young people. Based on our tests first and second part, we are affected, it is easy to choose the wrong answer. therefore, My test result was stronger preference for young. 
      My second test is Weight. My result is:
     "Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for Thin People compared to Fat People."
     The weight test is samily to the age test what I had to done before. Pressing "e" for  thin people and good words; pressing "i" for fate people and bad words. Even thought I have had the experience of the test, I still press a wrong answer of the test. After the last test,I do better than last time. So that's why my result is a slight automatic preference for thin people.
    According to this two test. My conclusion is the result of my first time to took the test is more genuine and accurate then second test. Because all of the people absorbed the experience of the first time. For this two of IAT test. My personally think that was high accuracy for people testing their implicit association. With my own opinion, I preference young people compared to old. In my deep of heart, I think so. This test was explore my inner feelings. Althought I knew the methods of the test, I still totally agree with my result. I do not discriminate against fat people. That's my implicit's feelings. After this IAT test, I know more and more my self.

Informal Writing

     In the first, before I saw the video of examined life, I did not have any ideas and also the knowledge about philosophy. But after I saw the "examined life" by Astra taylor, I got different experience of my live. I got a question of worthy of reflection.
     According to the video, Peter Singer is walking on the 5th Avenue where has many all of the expensive brand's stores located in New York. And he walked in front of the shoes store. About threeteen years ago, he wrote an article called "Famine, Affluence, and Morality.” He talked about a ethics of a child drowning in a shallow pond and an experience shoes. And you could save his life or buy an experience shoes. Most of peoples will say that was easy to choose, must choose to save a child life and sacrifice their shoes. Unfortunately, Peter Singer said he agree with that, but he still said why don't donate a pair shoes which you can give money to association that help children in the third world. It was an ethics concept. Basically, we just donate the money what you want to spend on your shoes. In fact, it is easy to give up to buy a pair of shoes. But, Do everyone donate the money what you want to spend on shoes? Even thought we just donate shoes' money, it is enough to association many of children in the third world.
     If you can spend too much money on the top of brand's shoes, that's mean you have enough money on your life. If so, for you, the expensive of brand's shoes will not affect your normal life. Therefore, we should consider ethics of life. Why do we spend money on unnecessary? That's my appreciate from experience of examined of life by Astra taylor.

The Creative Minds class blog

    1.)  I was surprise to do the Scavenger Hunt, it was so exciting to find and take some of pictures outside the class with classmate. First of all, we chose some of the pictures can easier to pick up. When the Scavenger Hunt game started, we ran to our destinations and took the picture quickly. And also we thought that's not only game, it's testing our unity.

    2.)  If I have the chance to do the Scavenger Hunt again, I would like to work with other people in a group. It can be easier to know differents people and they're opinions. After Scavenger Hunt's experience, i knew how to be a good hunter. Because we tried to defeat. In the first 15 minutes, we had only to find 5 items.  Although we could find 13 items at last, we still think that we should improve next time.We learned more about how to hunt.

    3.) Our group’s strategy was choosing the fastest way to find items and planning the fastest schema. After we found some of pictures, we were discussing how to find a duck in the pool and President Brian Murphy. We did not have enough time to finish it. So we changed our strategy and ran to the libruay. We were using the computer to search some of pictures which was not easy to find.

    4.) I think our first problem is we are shy to face to face each other. We did not know each other, but we need to work together. We knew we need to work together to find out the target on the list. this has enhanced our communication skills.

   5.) Our solution was, tried to talk to other teammates. Our big problem was communication with others. We did not talk about our recommend. So at the first 15 minutes, we did hunt really slowly. We were beginning to understand the problem. Therefore, we tried to talk with others. And we got some of each other's idea. We were finished it really quickly.

  6.) In Scavenger Hunt, we needs to show our ability. We put together the views of recommend. Then, we created some new ideas and got a point. It was hard to do when someone keep silent. So we did not have dissent. We knew team work is a power. When we worked together, i society's ability.
